NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR RESIDENTIAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Recent developments in home networking technologies have created unique opportunities for energy monitoring and power conservation. What was once the exclusive domain of the rich and famous is now easily within reach of the rest of us. Rich Green, a prominent Silicon Valley residential automation designer, will discuss the emerging markets for retrofitting existing homes and simple solutions for remodels and new construction projects. Smart, network controllable, light dimmers, switches, thermostats, motorized window shades, and much more will be covered with fun demonstrations of the latest products.

Rich Green will discuss::
• Getting smart about reducing power consumption
• Monitoring your home energy system from anywhere in the world
• What is the ROI in green technologies for all of us and the world at large

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Rich Green has been an active professional in the audio/video industry since 1978. His system-integration company, Rich Green, Ink, serves the ambitious homeowners of Silicon Valley with an experienced staff of designers, project managers, engineers and technicians. Rich is recognized as one of the foremost A/V system designers, having worked with many prominent clients including Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert, Luciano Pavarotti, Sir George Solti, Rush Limbaugh, Jim Clark, Larry Ellison, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gordon P. Getty, Steve Jobs, Los Alamos National Laboratory and HP Labs.

Rich sits on the Board of Directors of the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA), where he founded the Technology Council, which he chairs, along with the Certification Council and the Home-Theater Design Specialty Certification Action Team. He also serves as a Subject Matter Expert and instructor for CEDIA's certification programs. Rich participates in numerous standards committees with CEDIA, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and InfoComm International. Rich is currently the Secretary of CEDIA.

Rich earned Bachelor of Science degrees with top honors in physical anthropology and historical geology at Northwestern University, graduating in 1978. He is also a founding member of the Palo Alto Strategy Center creating new forms of technology enabled meeting facilitation and conversation tools for global leadership on strategic issues.
