When Innovation Goes Social:
CSR in Action

Rossella Derickson and Krista Henley, Corporate-Wisdom and CSR in Action
with Cecily Joseph, Symantec

Our inspiring feature presentation will guide us to integrate corporate social responsiveness (CSR) into the fabric of our work and our organizations. Our speakers, authors Rossella Derickson and Krista Henley will ask us to think out of the box about our products and services, to find ways to become responsive local and global citizens.

Studies show that professionals are more engaged when involved in purpose-driven initiatives that connect product and service to the greater needs of society. This engagement translates to our competitive advantage, inspiring us and driving solutions to global problems. This session will offer inspiration from Silicon Valley leaders, from the collaborative book and consulting practice CSR in Action. One of those Silicon Valley leaders, Cecily Joseph, will share with us her corporate journey to create Symantec's successful CSR initiative.

This program is sure to help you shape your own thinking
about how to be an awakened and socially responsive professional and leader.

Here are a few images from our last gathering, on October 1st, , when our speakers and conversation leaders were Rosella Derickson, Krista Henley and Cecily Joseph, and our lively topic was Social Innovation.

Thanks to Bill Daul for capturing these great pictures.

I encourage you to keep asking your self the important question - What is Social Value? The direct and indirect links between social value and economic valuation, have lately been presenting themselves in new ways. The implications of real and distorted value have also been being re-revealed. Food for thought all around us.

Watch for future “Notes and Gems” from our October 1st evening, and for an invitation to join the SVII Kiva Circle. What better time to watch what innovative value might emerge from your micro-investment of $25?

Entrepreneurial Investors –

On this day-of-days, I find myself looking to the future.

In one expression of that, I remembered a Social Impact opportunity presented by Krista and Rossella during our October “First Wednesday” Innovation Society meeting. That opportunity can be found at www.KIVA.org.

This online social environment allows you to review loan requests by entrepreneurial groups in developing countries, and help out with just $25 at a time. What a special opportunity! I just made my first micro-loan. It was easy, fun and very satisfying.

I also created a Kiva Lending Group called SVII Innovation Society

By creating your own account, and joining this group, we can all see what and who each other is investing in…

My own first $25 investment went to Mrs. Keo Koem Lin's Grocery Store Group

Won’t you join me?

Here’s to future prosperity, for us all.
